36 local authorities have been identified by Socitm’s Better Connected research programme as having the UK’s top council websites.
The 36 councils which have been awarded 4 stars were complimented by a further 190 who were awarded 3 stars, meaning that 55 per cent of UK local government websites provide a good or very good experience from a user perspective. This figure has risen by 11 per cent on last year.
The 2016-17 results, which were based upon four ‘service task’ based surveys, as well as surveys on the quality of site navigation and site usability when accessed from a mobile device, also showed that here has been a further increase in the number of council websites that present a responsive or mobile site when accessed from a smartphone, rising from 80 per cent in 2015.16 to 89 per cent for 2016/17.
The four star websites include: Aberdeenshire; Cheshire East; East Sussex CC; Herefordshire; Kent CC; Milton Keynes; Rochdale BC; and West Lancashire BC. A full list can be found on the Better Connected website.
