The government has announced changes to planning and licensing rules to make it quicker and easier for new cafes, bars and music venues to open in place of disused shops.
A new National Licensing Policy Framework is to be introduced, aimed at modernising outdated planning and licensing rules and cut the cost, complexity, and time it takes to open and operate hospitality venues, and help small businesses grow and communities reconnect.

Greater Manchester gets new flood warning system
The Environment Agency has expanded its flood warning service across Cheadle, Stockport and the Platt Bridge area of Wigan.
The new flood warnings will cover almost 800 homes and businesses, issuing a warning message when flooding is forecast and again to warn users if impacts are likely.
There are three types of warning: Flood Alert, Flood Warning and Severe Flood Warning.
Residents can sign up for the service for free and can receive notifications via phone call, text or email.

The programme will provide holiday activities and opportunities for young people at risk of exploitation and violence.
The Holiday Hope programme will provide young people will something to do, something to aspire to, and something to eat.
Evidence shows that young people are more vulnerable to exploitation and violence in the school holidays, without the safety and security of school.
