BetterFleet Named Supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s Transport Technology Framework

AI-enabled charge management and planning system helps public sector fleets reduce costs and emissions while ensuring vehicles are ready for service

The UK’s transition to zero-emission transport is gaining momentum. From local councils to NHS trusts and police services, public sector organisations are under increasing pressure to decarbonise their fleets while maintaining operational reliability. Achieving this requires more than adding electric vehicles and chargers. It calls for intelligent systems that ensure vehicles are charged efficiently, available when needed, and managed sustainably for improved citizen services.

BetterFleet, a global leader in electric vehicle (EV) charge management and fleet optimisation software, has been named as a supplier on Crown Commercial Service’s (CCS) RM6347 Transport Technology framework on Lot 6 - Electric Vehicle Infrastructure. This new framework enables public sector organisations to procure innovative transport technology solutions more easily and cost-effectively. Through Lot 6, BetterFleet will provide advanced EV charging infrastructure, professional services, and energy management solutions to support the UK’s journey toward net zero.

Crown Commercial Service (CCS) is an Executive Agency of the Cabinet Office, supporting the public sector to achieve maximum commercial value when procuring common goods and services. In 2024/25, CCS helped the public sector to achieve commercial benefits equal to £5.3 billion - supporting world-class public services that offer best value for taxpayers.

Supporting the UK Public Sector’s Transition

“Being part of the Transport Technology framework underscores BetterFleet’s commitment to powering the UK’s shift towards more sustainable, smarter transport,” said Daniel Hilson, CEO of BetterFleet. “Our AI-enabled charge management and planning system helps public sector fleets reduce costs and emissions while ensuring vehicles are ready for service.”

BetterFleet’s platform is hardware-agnostic, integrating with more than 50 charging systems worldwide to support mixed or legacy charging environments. Its intelligent capabilities, including real-time performance monitoring, predictive maintenance, and automated incident management, enable fleet operators to maximise uptime, reduce operational costs, and support sustainability targets.

“Our experience working with over 200 fleets worldwide, combined with digital twin technology, allows us to deliver measurable value and operational resilience,” added Gerardo Zarazua de Rubens, Senior Vice President at BetterFleet. “We’ve seen first-hand how data-led decision-making can strengthen frontline transport services and support cleaner communities”.

Proven Performance for Public Fleets

Public sector fleets operate under demanding conditions, with tight budgets and essential service requirements. BetterFleet’s technology is designed for precisely this level of complexity. By creating a digital twin of each fleet’s vehicles, energy infrastructure, and routes, the platform helps fleet operators optimise asset selection, avoiding costly overbuilding of charging infrastructure. These virtual depot configurations integrate seamlessly with live operations, ensuring vehicles perform as required and charging assets are used efficiently.

This approach gives public sector organisations a powerful data-backed foundation for every infrastructure investment, helping them deliver cleaner air, reduced congestion, and improved reliability for the communities they serve.

Case Study: Go-Ahead Group

One of the most significant examples of BetterFleet’s technology in action is the Go-Ahead Group, the UK’s largest operator of electric buses. Go-Ahead is rolling out BetterFleet’s platform across 20 depots and more than 1,000 electric vehicles and chargers, with plans to expand to 1,500 units across 30 depots. This makes it one of the world’s largest deployments of advanced charge management software.

With BetterFleet, Go-Ahead depot operators gain mission-critical insights into vehicle readiness, charger status, and power management through a single interface. Intelligent load balancing helps avoid expensive grid upgrades while allowing more vehicles to be charged within existing capacity.

BetterFleet unifies different brands of legacy charging systems under one view, providing virtual upgrades that extend charger lifespan and prevent unnecessary replacements. This maximises charger usage, minimises downtime, and ensures vehicles are ready for dispatch, critical for maintaining reliable public transport services.

AI-Driven Technology for Smarter Fleets

BetterFleet’s AI-driven optimisation engine offers real-time visibility into charging sessions, infrastructure health, and vehicle availability. Machine learning algorithms predict charging time, vehicle range, and optimal scheduling, factoring in route topography, driver behaviour, and grid constraints.

These data-driven insights enable public sector fleets to reduce energy costs and operational risk while improving service reliability and supporting local decarbonisation strategies.

A Global Partner in Decarbonisation

BetterFleet’s secure cloud-based platform empowers mission-critical government, emergency response, utility, and logistics fleets to transition cost-effectively to sustainable technologies. The company unites planning, procurement, implementation, and operational management in one system.

Over 200 fleets worldwide rely on BetterFleet to improve readiness, reduce operational costs, and achieve sustainability targets. For UK public bodies, this means expert support throughout their fleet transition - from strategic planning to operational delivery.

Supporting World-Class Public Services

As a named supplier on the RM6347 Transport Technology framework, BetterFleet looks forward to supporting  public sector organisations nationwide to help build a resilient, low-carbon transport future that benefits every community.

BetterFleet is the new brand name of EVenergi, a global leader in planning, procurement, implementation, and operations software for zero-emission fleets and infrastructure.
