New Towns Fund to benefit 100 places across the country
Robert Jenrick has confirmed that 100 places have been invited to develop proposals for a new generation of multi-million-pound Town Deals.
The towns eligible for support from the £3.6 billion Towns Fund include places with proud industrial and economic heritage but have not always benefitted from economic growth in the same way as more prosperous areas.

Government announces sprinkler review for high-rise homes
Thousands of residents will benefit from safer homes under proposals that would see sprinklers installed in new high-rise blocks of flats.
The new proposals are deemed an important step forward in the government’s commitment to ensuring residents are safe in their homes.
The Ministry of Housing, Communities & Local Government is consulting on reducing the building height for when sprinklers are required from the current 30 metres and above to 18 metres.

Fair Funding Review delayed until next year
Robert Jenrick has announced that the Fair Funding Review and 75 per cent business rate retention will be delayed until 2020-21.
The government wrote to county MPs and county leaders following the Spending Review to confirm that both would be delayed, with the government instead signalling a commitment to implement both reforms in 2020-21.

Government-funded cycling routes revealed across England
A new £20 million government investment will see cyclists across the country benefit from more than 20 new and improved cycling routes.
Chris Heaton-Harris, the government’s Cycling Minister, unveiled the upgrades for the National Cycle Network, including new routes, better surfacing, and improved links to other transport modes. The National Cycle Network spans more than 16,000 miles of on-road and off-road cycling and walking paths.
