Ahead of the budget, the chancellor has announced that energy bill support will continue for another three months.
The Energy Price Guarantee will be kept at £2,500 for an extra three months from April to June, which is expected to save a typical household £160.
Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said: "We know people are worried about their bills rising in April, so to give people some peace of mind, we’re keeping the Energy Price Guarantee at its current level until the summer when gas prices are expected to fall.

The water minister has announced that four swimming sites in England are being considered to become designated bathing water sites. This means they will benefit from regular water quality monitoring from the spring.
The sites include Sykes Lane Bathing Beach and Whitwell Creek at Rutland Water, Firestone Bay in Plymouth, and a section of the River Deben at Waldringfield, Suffolk. There are currently 420 designated sites.

The Welsh Government has granted consent for Wales's first floating wind farm which will be located 40km off the coast of Pembrokeshire.
Seven 14MW turbines on floating platforms will provide enough low carbon energy to power 93,000 homes.
Project Erebus is part of the first phase of a 4 gigawatt renewable energy development in the Celtic Sea, which is set to generate enough power for 4 million homes. The project is part of a move away from being dependent on fossil fuels.

The transport secretary has announced that more than £40 billion will be invested in "transformational transport schemes" over the next two financial years.

Working in partnership with The National Lottery Community Fund, Arts Council England, The National Lottery Heritage Fund, Historic England and UK Community Foundations (UKCF), the government has launched the "Know Your Neighbourhood Fund".
The fund will support local organisations in 24 areas to increase the offer of projects that enrich lives to help improve wellbeing and social connections.

Natural England has launched a statutory and public consultation for proposed extensions to the Surrey Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Local authorities and other interested groups and individuals will be able to comment on the proposed extensions for the next 14 weeks.
The proposal to extend the Surrey Hills AONB is part of a programme of landscape designation and is one of four new designation projects to aimed at delivering on the Government’s commitment to safeguard more of England’s landscapes for future generations.

Recent statistics have shown that in 2020 to 2021, 493 care leavers benefitted from council tax exemption. The figures rose to 646 in 2021 to 2022, 746 in 2022 to 2023, and is set to reach 830 in the coming financial year.
The Welsh Government introduced legislation in April 2019 to exempt care leavers from council tax.
A series of reports commissioned by the Welsh Government has found that care leavers and third-party organisations representing care leavers has found that the exemption has been of "significant benefit" to care leavers.

The Evaluation Taskforce has awarded funding to four new projects to help test and evaluate new approaches within government.
It has been announced that up to £1 billion could be saved through modernisation and automation of services. This project involves the use of phone-bots and reducing paper use.
More than £1.2 million has been awarded to teams tackling issues such as cutting costs through digital transformation and mapping the use of electric vehicles.
