The Local Government Association has responded to an Electoral Commission review into Voter ID which found that 14,000 people were unable to vote due to new voter ID requirements.
The review also found that some groups were more affected than others.

New Home Office hub in Stoke-on-Trent
Home Secretary Suella Braverman has opened a new Home Office hub in Stoke-on-Trent which is set to create five hundred new jobs.
The new office has been created thanks to £7 million of funding from Stoke-on-Trent’s £56 million allocation through the Levelling Up Fund.
The site will be used for a new Asylum Casework Hub which is intended to significantly speed up asylum decision-making by improving case working capacity and efficiency.

UK marks 75 years of the Windrush Generation
22 June marks 75 years since the MV Empire Windrush arrived in the UK.
Educational, arts and sporting projects and activities are being held across the UK to promote community cohesion and understanding of the Windrush story.
45 community projects across the UK are being funded by the £750,000 Windrush Day Grant Scheme. This includes cricket matches held at the Sheffield Caribbean Sports Club and a procession celebrating the Windrush generation from Clapham Common to Brixton’s Windrush Square.

New scheme encourages graduates into town and planning careers
The Department for Levelling Up is awarding £1.59 million to a Local Government Association scheme to help councils recruit and develop more skilled planners.
The Pathways to Planning Programme will place graduates in councils. Around 30 people will be able to secure a placement while also receiving a bursary to study towards a planning masters.
