£16 million funding announced for Kent bus services
The Department for Transport has announced additional funding to help lower bus fares, improve punctuality and reduce journey times for busses in Kent.
The funding is intended to improve local transport connections and grow the economy.
The money will go to Kent County Council for its bus service improvement plan (BSIP) to improve local bus services, speed up bus journey times and deliver lower fares to help passengers save money on travel.
Kent will be hosting the Big Free Bus Weekend on 24 and 25 June when all bus travel across the county will be completely free.

More EV infrastructure for Waltham Forest
48 new charge points are to be installed across Waltham Forest.
The installations are part of Waltham Forest’s commitment to addressing climate change on a local level, reducing CO₂ emissions and promoting its sustainable transport strategy. It is also hoped the charge points will encourage locals to transition to low and no emission vehicles.
By 2025, Waltham Forest Council plans to have a charge point in every controlled parking zone in the borough by 2025.

New EV chargers for Trafford
Trafford Borough Council has announced that it will be installing two dozen EV chargers across Trafford throughout the summer.
The installation is in partnership with Be.EV who will be funding the project, with a contribution of the profits to Trafford Council. The council will retain ownership of the sites, and the chargers will be installed and maintained by Be.EV.
Most of the chargers will be rapid or ultra-rapid, which can charge a typical EV to 80 per cent in 20 minutes to an hour.

DIY waste charges for households abolished
Environment minister, Rebecca Pow has announced that households will no longer have to pay to get rid of DIY waste.
The Government will abolish the fees which some local authorities charge for disposing of DIY waste at household waste recycling centres (HWRCs).
It is hoped that this will encourage people to dispose of their waste responsibly and recycle. It is also intended to reduce fly tipping.
Around a third of Local Authorities still charge for household DIY waste.

£46 million for bus services in Wales
The Welsh Government has confirmed the majority of bus services will be protected thanks to £46 million of funding.
The Bus Transition Fund was announced by Deputy Climate Change Minister Lee Waters and will replace the Bus Emergency Scheme which comes to an end late July.
The Deputy Minister said: "As a direct result of this funding we will be able to avoid mass cancellation of services across Wales.
"It will provide immediate financial support to bus operators in Wales so that those vital services can continue.
