The Environment Agency has launched Flood Action Week to make sure that everyone knows their flood risk.
Flood Action Week takes place from 14-20 October and is launched on year on from Storm Babet. According to the Met Office, Storm Babet saw the third wettest three-day period in a series for England and Wales since 1891.
During the Storm, around 2,150 properties were flooded, though 96,900 properties were protected by the Environment Agency.

Eight energy and nature experts have been appointed to the Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission to help accelerate the government’s world leading target to deliver clean power by 2030.
The Clean Power 2030 Advisory Commission will support Chris Stark, Head of Mission Control, in developing a Clean Power 2030 system.
Expertise will be added to deliver the Clean Power 2030 Action Plan, which is expected later this year. The Action Plan will set out the path to decarbonise the electricity grid.

North East Combined Authority (NECA) and Homes England have signed a Strategic Place Partnership that aims to support the region to realise its housing ambitions.
The two organisations will work together for the long-term to unlock locally-led plans to create new homes within thriving places for people across the region.
The work will draw on Homes England expertise and resources, including land, legal powers and funding, underpinned by the development of a shared business plan aligned to local priorities.

The Technology Working Group has published its third and final report on AI.
The report 'Intelligent Investment: AI Deployment Strategies for UK Investment Management Firms' focuses on AI, in particular existing and future use cases for AI within the UK’s asset management sector, as well as the barriers firms have or are anticipated to encounter in adopting AI.
The first two reports looks at fund tokenisation in November 2023 and March 2024.

The warning comes as a new report on the state of the natural world is launched.
The State of Natural Capital Report, published by Natural England, will provide a unique insight into the vital role that healthy nature plays in underpinning economic health.
The report gives an assessment of the state of the country's ecosystem assets, including wetlands and forests.

The government has launched a new scheme to help build energy storage infrastructure.
It is hoped this will result in the first significant long duration energy storage (LDES) facilities in nearly four decades, and in turn, create back up renewable power and bolster the UK’s energy security.
The technology is like giant batteries and work by storing renewable energy and releasing it onto the grid and into homes when needed. This includes pumped storage hydro, which stores electricity by pumping water up a reservoir, to be released later.

The funding will be used to kick-start the regeneration of a former gasworks in Birkenhead.
Hind Street Urban Garden Village, on the Wirral, will see derelict land around Hind Street turned into a new community of over 1,500 homes, a new park, improved transport links, commercial space and leisure facilities.
