The transport secretary has reaffirmed Labour's manifesto commitment to fix up to one million more potholes a year.
Louise Haigh met with road workers and councillors on a visit to Blackpool to see the work being carried out to fix potholes and learn about high-definition imagery, which is being used to spot defects and speed up repairs.
The Project Amber scheme in Blackpool, uses an advanced imagery system that takes high-definition images of roads to detect potholes and compile data on areas most in need of repair.

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published regulatory judgements for ten social housing landlords.
The judgement found that Harlow District Council failed to meet the new consumer standards. Harlow has received a C3 grade which means that there are serious failings and it needs to make significant improvements.
RSH began an investigation into Harlow Council after reviewing its Tenant Satisfaction Measure results. It was found that the council had carried out fire risk assessments for only 20 per cent of buildings that it should have done.

Legislation amending building standards will require developers to ensure all new build homes have the physical infrastructure as well as a gigabit-capable connection, (subject to a £2,000 cost cap per dwelling).
If this is not possible, new builds should have the next fastest broadband connection within the cost cap.

Scottish first minister John Swinney has said that the Scottish Government will focus on maximising investment from newly created UK Government energy initiatives. This includes Great British Energy, the National Wealth Fund and the Clean Power 2030 Mission.

The government has announced it will consult on a new Decent Homes Standard for the rented sectors.
The consultation will launch as soon as possible and aims to ensure safe, secure housing is the standard people can expect in both social housing and private rented properties.
The government is also planning to bring forward legislation for Awaab’s Law in the social rented sector this autumn.
