New mayor details 100-day vision

James Palmer, the recently elected Conservative mayor for Cambridgeshire and Peterborough, has revealed his 100-day manifesto.

Pledging to create over 500 apprenticeships through a new ‘apprenticeship hub’, Palmer said that the start of his tenure would also see a wave of new affordable homes across the county, as well as the start of a Cambridgeshire and Peterborough investment fund.

There were also plans to lay the foundations for major transport upgrages and and infrastructure proposals.

Speaking at a press conference, Palmer said: “The aim is to get as much affordable housing as we can on each development. We’ve got leverage money here. It’s not my job to tell other councils where they should put houses, it’s my job to try to make sure we get as many as possible.”
