The Scottish Borders Council is considering a move to create a Brexit response team which will monitor the impact on the region.
A report to the council outlined the main implications for the area when the UK begins its exit from the EU. It highlighted that economic development funding, agriculture and access to the single market were among the areas of most concern.
If the team is created it will monitor what Brexit might mean for the 3,500 EU nationals living in the region, with each member of the team representative of a particular main service which is likely to be affected by Brexit.
According to the council, these areas are likely to include economic development, finance, regulatory services, procurement, human resources and the legal department.
