Prime Minister Theresa May has given Sajid Javid a new title in her cabinet reshuffle: Secretary of State for Housing, Communities and Local Government.
Amongst other cabinet reshuffles, Sajid Javid, the communities secretary, has kept his job, but his department has now got housing in the title.
Although housing previously fell under Javid’s responsibilities before, the emphasis of adding it in the title has suggested that housing has now become his priority.
The change comes following May’s pledge to take ‘personal charge’ for the government’s plans to fix the UK’s ‘broken’ housing market.
