The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA)

The UK Asbestos Training Association (UKATA) is a leading association dedicated to improving the quality and standards of asbestos training, with the goal of protecting workers and the public from the risks associated with asbestos exposure. UKATA is committed to promoting excellence in asbestos training through the development and implementation of high-quality training standards, the provision of best practice guidance, and the promotion of safe and responsible working practices within the asbestos industry.

As an association, UKATA works closely with its members to ensure they have access to the latest information, training resources, and industry updates. A range of support services is available to help members achieve their training goals and maintain compliance with relevant legislation and best practices. UKATA’s membership base includes a wide range of organisations involved in asbestos training, including asbestos removal contractors, consultants, and equipment suppliers.

UKATA asbestos training courses are designed to meet the legal requirements set out in the Control of Asbestos Regulations 2012 and ensure that individuals who may encounter asbestos are appropriately trained. The training offered covers a variety of needs, including Asbestos Awareness for those who may be exposed to asbestos but do not disturb it, Non-Licensable Work for those who carry out work on low-risk asbestos-containing materials, and Licensed Work for those involved in higher-risk activities requiring a license. All courses are delivered by UKATA-approved training providers to ensure consistency, quality, and compliance with current health and safety standards.

UKATA plays a vital role in raising awareness of the dangers of asbestos and supporting the delivery of safe, effective training across multiple sectors, including construction, demolition, waste and recycling, facilities management, and maintenance. The association continues to be a trusted voice in the asbestos industry, advocating for high standards and responsible working practices that protect both workers and the public.

At UKATA, there is a strong commitment to collaboration, continuous improvement, and professional development. By working together with members, industry partners, and regulatory bodies, UKATA continues to lead the way in ensuring that asbestos training is delivered to the highest possible standards, with the aim of preventing exposure and saving lives.
