Ciqurix: Bringing Video Flame Detection to the World

Since 2012, UK-based Ciqurix has been at the forefront of designing, developing and manufacturing innovative Video Flame Detection (VFD). This advanced approach to fire detection offers a vital advantage in settings where conventional smoke and heat detectors often struggle – waste management sites, warehouses, cold storage units, outdoor environments and more besides.

Ciqurix products are trusted worldwide and perform particularly well in high-risk, complex environments. These systems operate effectively in recycling centres, large open spaces, low-temperature sites and areas with high airflow. Conventional detectors often produce false alarms or fail entirely in such conditions.

The company’s mission is to raise global fire safety standards through faster and more reliable detection. Ciqurix systems integrate easily with existing infrastructure, reducing installation time and avoiding the cost of full system replacements. They work indoors and outdoors, across both short and long distances, with no complex setup.

A key innovation is the CORE VFD System. A finalist for the Outstanding Product and Innovation award at the 2025 Fire Resilience Excellence Awards, held at The Fire Safety Event this April, this groundbreaking technology developed under the leadership of Chief Technical Officer Matt Bates, with a focus on speed, accuracy and compliance.

CORE provides primary fire detection using a dual-sensor design. It meets UK fire standard BS5839-1:2017, uses fire-rated cabling and can operate on internal battery power for more than 24 hours. Ciqurix also offers the FLEX system, a CCTV fire detection platform that provides additional fire detection features for sites with varying needs.

CORE performs where traditional systems fall short. It has been used in dusty waste handling facilities, high-ceilinged warehouses, exposed construction sites and cold storage units. The system delivers accurate, early detection in environments where standard detectors often fail. Its ability to reduce false alarms while meeting regulatory standards supports better site safety and easier insurance compliance.
