130,000 families left to live in one-bed flats
A new report from the National Housing Federation has revealed that an ongoing shortage of homes is forcing 130,000 families in England to squeeze into one-bedroom flats.
Overcrowding in England has now reached record levels, as around 96,000 more children are living in overcrowded homes compared to a decade ago. The latest data shows that more than one in ten children in England are living in overcrowded homes, totalling approximately 1.3 million children from more than 600,000 families, who are stuck in overcrowded conditions because there is nowhere else for them to live.

Independent review into HS2 programme announced
Transport Secretary Grant Shapps has announced that Douglas Oakervee will lead a review into the High Speed 2 (HS2) project.
Oakervee, who has built up considerable knowledge on a wide range of major projects over the course of his 60 year career, will lead the review and be supported by a panel of experts, bringing together a range of perspectives from business, academia and the transport sector to ensure an independent, thorough and objective assessment of the project.
