New housing secretary Steve Reed has called on developers and housebuilders to 'build, baby, build'.
In a meeting with key developers and housebuilders, Reed, alongside Housing Minister Matthew Pennycook, committed to working in partnership with industry leaders to ramp up housebuilding.
A series of new measures are expected to be announced in the coming weeks and months, ncluding new towns across the country and the landmark Planning and Infrastructure Bill passing into law.

The government has announced £1.1 billion in joint government and industry investment for the maritime sector, to unlock growth and jobs and also boost coastal towns and cities.
the funding includes £700 million of private investment for major UK ports and leading industry players, as well as £448 million of public investment to reduce emissions from UK shipping.

According to new trial results, AI assistants are saving government coders the equivalent of 28 working days a year.
More than 1,000 developers have been able to build more tech like the Whitehall’s Humphrey AI assistant, healthcare tech and more.
The time savings from the AI assistants mostly came from using them to write first drafts of code that experts then edit, or using them to review existing code. However, only 15 per cent of code generated by the AI coding assistants was used without any edits.

Lawyer Catherine Howard has been appointed the new infrastructure and planning adviser.
Howard will advise the Chancellor on the next phase of planning and infrastructure reforms.

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published a review of its regulatory casework over the last year - since the new inspection programme began on 1 April 2024.
The annual report covers the key themes from RSH’s governance, financial viability and consumer regulation of social landlords and shares learning for social landlords, to help them deliver more and better homes.
RSH has published more than 100 regulatory judgements from inspections since the new programme began last April.

More than half of RAAC-affected schools and colleges now either fully free of the material or on the path to removal. 
RAAC has been removed RAAC from 52 schools with targeted grant funding. Meanwhile, 71 schools are in the process of being rebuilt under the School Rebuilding Programme.

Rollout of new neighbourhood health services has begun in 43 places across the country.
Each area will be allocated a programme lead who will work with existing local services to set up a new neighbourhood health service.
The leads will use general practice as a cornerstone and will draw together a range of professions to develop a neighbourhood health team consisting of community nurses, hospital doctors, social care workers, pharmacists, dentists, optometrists, paramedics, social prescribers, local government organisations and the voluntary sector.

New Freedom of Information (FOI) data researched by Geotab has revealed a gaps in electric vehicle adoption across government bodies in the major UK cities. 
The data, obtained from FOI requests submitted to seven UK city councils and Transport for London (TfL), shows wide disparities in the percentage of electric vehicles in local authority fleets.
