The Welsh Government has announced an additional £55 million to the Transitional Accommodation Capital Programme (TACP) to bring the total for this year's budget to £155 million.
TACP delivers good quality and longer-term housing at pace for people in housing need across Wales.
It supports schemes like the acquisition of existing dwellings, conversion of non-residential buildings into housing and helps bring void properties back into use.

The CEO of the Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) Fiona MacGregor will step down after more than ten years in the role.
She will step down at the end of April 2026.
MacGregor previously worked at L&Q, the Housing Corporation, and the Homes and Communities Agency before moving into social housing regulation.
Chair of RSH Bernadette Conroy, will now work with colleagues in the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government to appoint a successor.

The Regulator of Social Housing (RSH) has published its annual statistics about the social housing sector.
The figures show that the sector provides around 4.5 million homes across England, with a net increase of nearly 38,000 social homes since 2024.
This has been driven by an increase of roughly 28,000 in Affordable Rent homes and around a 13,900 increase in low cost home ownership homes. There was also a decrease of just over 4,100 social rent homes.

The new Bus Bill has become law, aimed at making it easier for local leaders to take control of their buses.
Buses are the most used form of public transport in England, but around 300 million fewer miles were driven by bus services in England in 2024 compared to 2010.
The new bill will end the risk of routes being scrapped at short notice by tightening the requirements for cancelling vital routes.

Education Secretary Bridget Phillipson has set a 2029 timeline for the removal of Reinforced Autoclaved Aerated Concrete (RAAC) from all schools and colleges.
So far, the government has confirmed that RAAC has been removed from 62 schools and colleges. For schools with RAAC being rebuilt through the School Rebuilding Programme (SRP), all will be in delivery by the end of the current parliament, with more than half underway at present.

Awaab's Law has come into effect today in a bid to ensure safer housing for tenants.
The first phase of Awaab’s Law will force social landlords to take urgent action to fix dangerous homes or face penalties.
Landlords must now fix emergency health and safety hazards within 24 hours of reporting. They must also investigate significant damp and mould within 10 working days of being notified and then make properties safe in five working days. They must also write to tenants with the findings within three working days of inspection.

The current Mayor of London, Sadiq Khan, has started more new council homes that at any time since the 1970s and completed more new homes in London than any time since the 1930s.

The Chancellor has appointed growth and productivity expert Dr Anna Valero as an Industrial Strategy advisor.
Dr Valero is a Distinguished Policy Fellow at the London School of Economics and will advise Rachel Reeves as a sector and industrial policy expert. She has previously worked as part of the Chancellor’s Council of Economic Advisers, where she was extensively involved in the development and publication of the Industrial Strategy White Paper and Sector Plans.

The Chancellor has announced a £500 million investment package to deliver growth in the Oxford to Cambridge Corridor and cement its status as a global innovation hub.
The money will be used to support communities and businesses with new jobs, homes and investment.
Up to £400 million will initially be used to kickstart development in Cambridge with affordable homes, infrastructure and business expansion.
