Hertfordshire awards £1bn waste contract
Hertfordshire County Council has awarded a contract worth £1 billion to waste management firm Veolia, to provide waste to energy services.
The 30-year contract will see investment in a new energy recovery facility, which will process 350,000 tonnes of waste and generate as much as 33.5MW of electricity every year.

Aberdeen City Council is set to install a fibre network across the city to provide enhanced digital services to residents, businesses and visitors.
Having joined the Scottish Wide Area Network (SWAN) in September 2015, the council will now introduce fibre infrastructure to the majority of its sites over the next year to enable it to meet its ambitious digital city plans.
The network, managed by Capita IT Enterprise Services, will link the council’s 188 educational and corporate establishments together.
