A website will let people who live or work in Birmingham make green pledges of actions to make their lifestyle greener.
The Birmingham Cutting CO2 website will turn these pledges into CO2 value and help Birmingham towards its goal of cutting carbon emissions by 60 per cent by 2026.
Birmingham Environmental Partnership launched the Birmingham Cutting CO2 campaign and website in 2007, which is also part of the CRed community – a national project to reduce carbon emissions.
Birmingham beat its CO2 targets during 2008-09 by saving over 103,000 tonnes.
Councillor Paul Tilsley, chairman of the Be Birmingham said: "Everyone has a role to play in cutting carbon emissions and the benefits are huge – saving money on fuel bills and improving the environment in terms of reduced emissions being the most significant."
"It only takes a few minutes to make a pledge and I would encourage people to take a few moments out of their time because the end result is well worth it."
