The Department for Science, Innovation and Technology, has announced that a new supercomputer is to be built in Bristol in an attempt to drive pioneering AI research and innovation in the UK.
The University of Bristol will host the new AI Research Resource (AIRR), which will serve as a national facility to help researchers maximise the potential of AI and support critical work into the potential and safe use of the technology.

The completion of affordable homes in Scotland is at a 23-year high according to the Scottish Government.
Almost 11,000 affordable homes were delivered in the year to end June 2023.
The Scottish Government has a target of delivering 110,000 affordable homes by 2032, with 70% of these for social rent and 10% in rural and island communities.

Ofsted has released a statement saying that it will avoid inspecting any education setting that is on the Department for Education’s published list of education settings affected by RAAC this term.
For those settings that are not on the list, but are still impacted by RAAC in some way – for example, hosting pupils from schools that have RAAC, Ofsted has updated its deferrals guidance. This will make clear that it will consider disruption as a result of measures taken to deal with RAAC, when looking at inspection deferral.

The Electoral Commission has warned that hundreds of thousands of people could be excluded from voting in a UK general election due to new voter ID laws.
The election watchdog warned that the laws will have a disproportionate effect on poorer people, those with disabilities and people from minority ethnic backgrounds.
The Commission urged ministers to take urgent action to alleviate these impact - by drawing a wider list of documents that people can show to vote and allowing people without ID to have someone else vouch for their identity.

Consolidated guidance on the health outcomes of damp and mould in the home has been published as part of the government’s response to the Coroner’s report into the death of Awaab Ishak.
The guidance sets out the legal responsibilities of social and private sector landlords to their tenants and the serious health risks that damp and mould pose.

The government has announced £129 million to help local transport authorities introduce zero emission buses.
