Welsh first minister Eluned Morgan told the Senedd how she plans to deliver for Wales in 2025. Her focus on the government’s work programme: ‘leeched da’ -- a Healthier Wales — prioritises jobs, green growth, opportunity, and connecting communities, builds on the £157 million of investment the Welsh government has already put towards delivering these promises.

This package comprises £21 million for diagnostic equipment for the NHS to help cut waiting times, as well as a £50 million package targeted to cut the longest of these waits. £20 million has been given thanks to the School Standards Grant and a further £10 million to boost Additional Learning Needs provision. A father £20 million has gone towards school and college repairs and maintenance.

The Welsh government have also put £10 million towards social housing, as well as £10 million towards reablement services, which enable people to relearn to do daily activities, like cooking meals and washing. Support for domiciliary care will allow the £100-a-week maximum charge for care to be maintained.

Plans for delivery in 2025 are already underway. Laying out the government’s plan for a better future for Wales, the Draft Budget aims to deliver a further £1.5 billion for public services and priories, serving as a roadmap to improve Wales over the coming year.

First minister Eluned Morgan said: “We have an ambitious plan for delivery in 2025 and beyond, working across each of our priority areas and in collaboration with our partners around the country.

“It’s important to me that we are a government that listens and a government that responds to what it hears and works with our partners to deliver real results for people.

“This is by no means the end of our conversation with the people of Wales — it is more like a fresh beginning — the beginning of a new year, the beginning of a new term and the beginning of our journey to build a brighter future for Wales.”
