Becrypt DISK Protect is certified at the Foundation Grade for use in the UK public sector, demonstrating good commercial security practice, suitable for lower threat environments such as PROTECT and some RESTRICTED data.
Commercial Product Assurance (CPA) builds on CESG’s extensive experience of product evaluation. In CPA, CESG and independent test labs evaluate commercial security products against published security standards for use in the UK Public Sector. Foundation Grade represents a good level of commercial security and gives the public sector confidence in the security of a commercial product. Augmented Grade is a more rigorous assessment of the product’s implementation to ensure it is suitable for moderate threat environments, such as RESTRICTED and some CONFIDENTIAL data.
Bernard Parsons, CEO at Becrypt said, “We were very pleased to be able to work with CESG on this new framework for assurance, to give purchasers confidence that the product they are buying has an assurance to protect their data. We are delighted that DISK Protect is the first product to be certified as meeting this standard”.
A spokesman for CESG said, “We have worked hard with our industry partners to develop CPA, and are delighted to announce the first certified product. CPA is a key part of the Cyber Security Strategy and sets strong standards for suppliers to government of commercial off-the-shelf security products. We are grateful to Becrypt and our first test labs – Enex and Siventure – for the interest and support they have given us during the pilot phase of CPA”.
