Cameron witnesses Northern growth in Decorative Panels factory visit

According to the Tory manifesto, rebalancing the economy involves creating a ‘Northern Powerhouse’, and it plans to invest £13bn in modern transport links such as a ‘Northern Hub’ and upgrades to the A1, M62, M1 and A555 link roads.

The PM spent over twenty minutes touring the factory during which he took the opportunity of meeting with two senior operators, Laura Carter and Steve Dyson, to discuss their roles in the business.

The Prime Minister was impressed with the high productivity levels of the business and the fact that the Decorative Panels Group had continued to grow through every year of the recession.

Commenting on the visit Guy Metcalfe, Decorative Panels Group MD, said: “We were very pleased to receive the Prime Minister today and be allowed the opportunity to show him the very latest in automated, efficient British Manufacturing. As the PM said, manufacturing will play an ever increasing role in the economy as we continue to return to growth.”
