Newcastle City Council launches new car club

Newcastle City Council has launched a new car club offering Newcastle businesses and residents access to pay-as-you-go vehicle hire from a range of locations across the city.

Vehicles are provided by Enterprise Car Club from designated parking bays in the city centre and in residential areas. The car club enables people to hire a low-emission car by the hour and the day, with vehicles available 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

Cllr Juna Sathian, cabinet member for climate and transport at Newcastle City Council, said: “We’re very pleased to be working with Enterprise Car Club who are delivering the city’s official car club.

“The car club offers members convenient and affordable access to a low-emission car for one-off or regular trips, helping to support residents who don’t have access to, or choose not to have, a vehicle of their own.

“By promoting shared car use, the scheme also means there are fewer vehicles on our streets, helping to reduce traffic emissions and pressure on parking spaces.

“The car club has been an important part of our transport network in Newcastle over a number of years and we’re delighted that residents and businesses will continue to enjoy the benefits it provides.”

The mobility company already offers traditional car hire services in the city, including at Newcastle Central Station, in Byker and Newcastle International Airport, and members of the car club will also be able to use these services via their car club membership.

Chris Turnbull, VP and general manager, North East, at Enterprise Mobility, said: “We are delighted to partner with Newcastle City Council to provide our car club service to local businesses and the local community.

“Enterprise Mobility has been part of the city for many years, and we are thrilled to be strengthening our partnerships to offer employees, residents and visitors more choice in how they travel.”

Enterprise Car Club is offering Newcastle residents a range of discounts on the first year of membership. Full pricing details about the service, including local discounts, can be found on the Enterprise Car Club website.
