Corbyn suggests maximum earning threshold

Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn has said that introducing a maximum cap on the amount that people can earn would be ‘the fairer thing do’.

Speaking to BBC Radio 4's Today programme, Corbyn, who first raised the idea of a maximum earnings cap during Labour's 2015 leadership contest, said that ‘if we want to live in a more egalitarian society’, then the worsening levels of income disparity need addressing.

Saying that he was ‘not wedded to a figure’, the Labor leader said: “We cannot set ourselves as being a sort of grossly unequal bargain basement economy on the shores of Europe.”
