Sue Robb of 4Children talks to Julie Laughton and Alison Britton from the Department for Education about the role of childminders in delivering the 30 hours free entitlement.
The District Council’s Network (DCN) has warned that a radical rethink is necessary to reduce the proposed three-year timetable intended for business rate appeals.
The DCN made the statement in response to a consultation on the proposal and urged the government to dramatically reduce the suggested period allowed for each stage in the new process.
The organisation has instead issued an alternative timetable where the whole process could take a maximum of one year.
The statement read: “With councils retaining 100 per cent of business rates income from 2020, the proposals fail to deliver a streamlined and efficient system.
“They require radical rethinking in order to secure much swifter decisions where a ratepayer challenges the rateable value."
