Caerphilly misconduct charges dropped

The charges were brought forward after auditors found pay increases to senior officers were unlawful.

Chief executive Anthony O’Sullivan, his deputy Nigel Barnett and head of legal services Daniel Perkins had all been arrested in suspicion of fraud and misconduct, however the charges were dismissed at Bristol Crown Court following legal submissions.

Leader of Caerphilly Council Keith Reynolds has said the council is now working to recover the £1 million salary costs lost during the period of their suspension.
