£900,000 boost for voluntary groups

Nearly 60 local groups and organisations have been recommended to benefit from funds totalling £900,000 in Cambridge City Council’s Community Grants scheme.

Community Grant funds are aimed at community groups working on projects to help reduce social or economic inequality among Cambridge residents with the greatest needs.

Funding will help to provide a variety of services to residents including financial and legal advice, employment support and community, cultural and sporting activities.

Lewis Herbert, leader of the council, said: “Our Community Grants support a variety of groups and in doing so benefit a large number of our residents.

“The organisations receiving grants from the council work to bring people together, boost health and wellbeing and provide opportunities for people that might not otherwise have them. We are delighted our grants programme enables so many groups to deliver this important and highly valued work.”
