Voter registration deadline looms

Eligible voters have until 23:59 BST to register online through the official gov.uk website for the 8 June general election.

Since Theresa May revealed the snap election, reports suggest that more than two million people have joined the register - with 18 April, the day the Prime Minister made her announcement, marking the day in which the highest number of applications were received.

The Electoral Commission has warned that about seven million people across Britain who are eligible to vote are not registered, with only 28 per cent of home movers in the past year having registered.
