£2.9m of Welsh Assembly Government funding will give public sector organisations in Wales the opportunity to access interest free loans to help reduce their carbon footprint.
The money, which has to be spent by the end of the current financial year, will enable organisations to access funding to install energy efficiency technology.
Many public sector organisations have previously taken advantage of this opportunity and have successfully installed a range of energy efficiency measures including voltage optimisation equipment, new CHP units and cavity wall and loft insulation.
Environment Minister, Jane Davidson said: "The interest free loans will provide universities, local authorities and other public sector organisations with an affordable means of upgrading their premises so that they are much more energy efficient."
"Not only will this help to reduce Wales’s carbon footprint, it will also result in reduced energy bills for public sector organisations."
