Parks usage highlighted in report

The Commons Communities & Local Government Committee has found that 90 per cent of the public visit a park at least once a week.

Surveying members of the public between July and September, the report also showed that nearly 90 per cent had a very positive impression of the way in which parks' impact on well-being and community.

Additionally, the committee revealed that 70 per cent of walkers live within 10 minutes of a park, while 90 per cent of visitors take less than 20 minutes to reach one.

The most popular uses for parks were to walk, for nature, to run, for peace, children, to meet friends, for organised exercise, community events, to use a cafe, to cycle, to picnic and for pets.
