ARTS Energy products and solutions are rechargeable Lithium-ion (Li-ion), Nickel metal-hydride (Ni-MH) and Nickel Cadmium (Ni-Cd) batteries for professionals.

The world of energy has seen significant changes over the years, renewable energy generation is continually evolving and adopting new technologies and is ever more dependent on high quality storage. ARTS Energy battery products, are recognised as sustainable with high autonomy to meet these demanding and wide temperature variant applications with 10 years plus life expectancy and allowing designers and architects more scope to create more applications with aesthetically pleasing designs.

The lighting market has adopted the LED (light emitting diode) light source as this has reduced the power consumption and has removed the regularity to replace lamps. The maintenance issue became the battery, normally replaced every 4 years. With this challenge, ARTS Energy has now developed a Ni-MH rechargeable battery ‘ecolife™ MH’ designed to work with 10 year life. Operating between 0°C to 40°C, it can be used in most Emergency Lighting applications. In many modern Emergency Lighting systems there has been a move towards the automatic testing of units. Using a Ni-MH battery is beneficial as they have a much higher cycle count and last longer.

The intermittent charging regime to maintain the battery during its lifetime ensures the batteries longevity also giving a five times energy reduction compared the common Ni-Cd battery on permanent charge. An important consideration when looking at the total energy costs in a building. The ‘ecolife™ MH’ longer life battery means less maintenance and less waste. In fact these Ni-MH batteries are highly recyclable, safe and contain no toxic, dangerous or flammable materials.

Further battery developments in lighting with solar street lights, beacons and bollards all of which can be powered by the VHT range of cells, these Ni-MH cells with operating temperature of -40°C - +85°C, are giving strong performance not only in solar lights but to other demanding solar, off peak and rechargeable applications including telecom, train backup, tracking, cameras, broadband, highway infrastructure and control, medical equipment, military, agricultural tools and many, many more.

The Companies battery development team possess expert skills and know-how in electrochemistry and mechanical engineering; this team is backed by close cooperation with SAFT and BASF. ARTS Energy operates two in-house laboratories, fully integrated into our industrial site for conducting chemical and electrical tests.

The Battery Design Office team of battery experts aim to adapt to your project to design the product best suited to your needs using the best components at the most competitive cost. Our customers need their solutions in rapid delivery times for conducting tests or finalising their specifications. ARTS Energy has a dedicated cross-disciplinary team, which uses the factory’s industrial resources to produce in very short times, battery prototypes, based on Ni-Cd, Ni-MH and Li-Ion technologies.

ARTS Energy uses very flexible production means from the human being for small series, through semi-automatic lines to robots depending on production volumes. This flexibility and reactivity enable our teams to share their know-how with customers to achieve an ideal level of satisfaction. Because ARTS Energy manufactures energy storage solutions and not products, it is an expert in battery electronics: BMS, PCM, communication interface, chargers, which are all designed by the in-house Electronics Design Office.

ARTS Energy manufactures its own Ni-MH and Ni-Cd cylindrical rechargeable batteries on high-capacity automatic production lines in a 17,000 m² factory in France. It’s characteristic, in that it is unique being the only European industrial company to perpetuate this know-how. At this dedicated facility, they manufacture complex and custom rechargeable batteries based on not only their own Ni-Cd and Ni-MH technology, but also Li-ion, Ni-MH and Ni-Cd rechargeable batteries with partners Panasonic, Sony and FDK.
